May grey, June gloom...

7 juni 2018 - Laguna Beach, California, Verenigde Staten

Hi there!

These couple of weeks have been busy (as always), but again really fun! I love my two little host kids. We did a lot of fun stuff together already like going to the beaches, play grounds, library and going for 'dog hunt' walks. The girls loveeee dogs so they are super duper happy when they see dogs walking by!

Two weeks ago I btw did something cool. I went off roading for a day in Joshua Tree National Park! This park is only a few hours driving from Laguna so not too bad (at least for Americans lol). The park is amazing, especially all the trees and big rocks. Really nice to drive around in such a beautiful and peaceful place! But spending one day at the park is enough, because the park is not really big ;) Another thing I did was going to my first American pool house party in my life. Actually when I arrived with my friend the party was already almost over, but we still had a lot of fun and went in the pool! Talking about parties... these weeks I went out to party pretty much. The nicest places to go out here are San Clemente and Newport Beach. San Clemente has a few nice places where you can dance and Newport Beach is really fancy (lot of Californian Rich Kids haha...).

Right now it is starting to get warmer and warmer. Unfortunately is May we had some weeks with some rain and clouds (not too much rain like in Netherlands tho), but still the temperature was alright (of course I am used to boring cold weather). The bad thing of the summers here, is that Laguna Beach gets so busy with all the tourists! Last Sunday I was on the Main Beach in Laguna and I almost could not park anywhere anymore! I am glad that I normally go to that beach during the week with the kids ;) I still cannot get enough of the beauty California (and especially Orange County) has. Also, I think the food here is better than in the East coast. For sure California is expensive, but the food most people use are more fresh and more healthy. Also, there is a big Mexican influence (Mexico is only 1,5 hours driving from my house) and I love Mexican food.

I am looking forward to this weekend (which already starts tomorrow evening), because I am going to the High Desert again on Sunday with some friends. It is so nice that the city is close by, the beach is 15 minutes driving, but the desert is also really close. I think I live in a pretty neat spot right now ;) Spoiled Sophie!
