First impressions of Cali & working with my new kids!

Dont want to leave California any more!

Hi guys, I am so excited to write this new story about my first weeks in Cali! California is the state of sun, sea & beach but has a lot more to offer than only that. I already met a lot of kind people that live here & love the style of living. These weeks went pretty fast, although I didn’t explore that much yet. Last weekend I met some family members of my host family and went to the pool. On Sunday I went to Huntington Beach with 2 Au pairs from South Africa and an Au pair from Thailand. For me the coolest thing about being an Au pair is meeting new people from different countries! Anyways, that Sunday we laid down on the beach, joined a drum circle (they have this circle every Sunday and it’s so much fun to listen to the music, dance and meet locals), went out for dinner and drank cocktails. Huntington Beach is a great beach town with lots of young people, nice bars & restaurant and cool shops. Besides, the town as an amazing Long Beach and the sea has great waves! I really enjoyed my day there and want to come back soon. Tomorrow I fi-nally get my drivers test! It least I think so because I’m going to do my drivers test in the morning ;) Some Americans drive crazy and I guess they bought their licenses with a bag of groceries so I almost know for sure I’m going to pass. After tomorrow I will have more freedom and can go where I want (with the kids during work and during my times off). 

Next week is my birthday, so this weekend I go to Las Vegas with a friend! We rented a car and drive there (it’s only about 4-5 hours driving) & get an Airbnb or a nice hostel. I’m so excited to see the city and go out there!! 

My work with my new 2 host kids is going great! I really feel comfortable in the family and feel part of the family. My two kids are really sweet and funny, but also are really active and need a lot of attention ;) Now I passed my Californian drivers test I can finally explore OC (Orange County) with them! Can’t wait to go to nice parks, malls, beaches and play grounds with them :)
